The Power to Extinguish the Achievement Gap.
Why lower performance expectations for African American, Latino, and poor children? All kids are clever if you can reach them. That's why I created Jazzles ELA. It's a stark contrast to the poverty of engagement strategies in Beginning Reading programs from 'edu-establishments'.

Only a Teacher Could Have Created It!
I'm Lesley Beth. I've used all my talents, skills and the knowledge of 20 years teaching, to create Jazzles ELA, a unique, song-powered program that meets-exceeds Common Core State Standards for Kindergarten ELA
Personally funded, Jazzles ELA is the world's largest, most advanced VAK multimedia resource for creatively developing vocabulary, oral language and learn to read skills.
Plus it develops vital non-cognitive skills that tend to get left off other ELA programs.
The breakthrough for Jazzles ELA came to me in a class full of ELL students. With no self-confidence, they were struggling to engage, let alone keep up, with the rest of the class.
Suddenly I could see how to combine my talents as a song writer ( of very catchy, alliterative lyrics ) with my love of creative arts and performance in ways to engage the learning styles of every child in my class.
In the race to digitize, publishers tend to forget that learning to read requires lots of working memory and subtle speech language skills that cannot be app'd. That's why I think only a working, experienced teacher could create such a transformative approach. I hope you agree!
Note: Lesley is a recipient of an American Songwriter Magazine award and a Semi-Finalist in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition.

Advanced, 21st Century Pedagogy.
Jazzles is an engagement-oriented VAK pedagogy with unique, customized multimedia resources, designed to achieve exceptional levels of engagement in mixed ability classes.
Jazzles is a balance of technology, self-paced and teacher directed learning. It's a fun, inductive, investigative brand of learning that includes: multiple ways of engagement, representation, action, expression and practice. Importantly, it includes multiple memory strategies and probably more than any other Kindergarten ELA program.
Academically, it develops all six big ideas of literacy in a systematic, sequential cross-curricula process that is cumulative and coherent.
The program's number one priority is to develop a class-wide rich oral language base. This includes a deep understanding of words and their usage in different domains of knowledge.
It does this applying song-powered visual literacy, inferential questioning, drama and web-search.
Additionally, Jazzles develops 21st Century skills of Visual Literacy and non-cognitive skills such as confidence, creativity, focus, cooperation and problem solving skills.
Jazzles ELA is embedded with inferential and differentiated learning, catering for all learning styles and multiple intelligences.

Children Cry for Jazzles
A 2007 PISA (OECD) study, showed levels of 'engagement' was the single factor that differentiated the nations with the highest and lowest levels of student achievement.
Says a Head Start teacher, "One of my students cried today because we didn't have time for Jazzles, I mean real tears. I will make sure that never happens again." Whole classes ignore lunch bells because children are so engaged.
It's the polar opposite of standard reading programs because the unique, song-powered, song themed Jazzles design starts with engagement hooks - using exceptionally engaging resources and a cutting edge, engagement-oriented pedagogy.
No other curriculum program seems to focus on engagement, perhaps because publishers don't know how to achieve it and sustain it meaningfully from one period to the next.

Amazing Results. Independent Theses Prove It.
When 40% of a mixed-ability Missouri kindergarten (half on free lunch) with no prior reading level, achieve year end-literacy in the first semester, you should be as amazed as the teacher! When Hispanic children in a Head Start, San Antonio PreK, achieve 2 year's outcome in the first year, you can see the potential of Jazzles to change children's lives for ever.
Rather than winnowing arts from the curriculum, a strong reason why Jazzles succeeds is that its curriculum strategically uses creative arts and drama in ways that enjoyably develop cognitive and vital non-cognitive skills to support cross-curricula literacy.
This video is a quick glimpse into how Jazzles uses the arts and learning styles, to creatively engage, enhance and accelerate children's literacy development.
